I have always tried to keep an open mind when it comes to country music and I much prefer the old-timey, honky tonk sounds of the 1940's & 1950's to the 'New' country sounds now constantly flooding out of Nashville. Remember at one time Rock & Roll, Hillbilly, Blues and Country all melted together and were played by all the great artists and bands who knew their own area's musical heritage and heard these sounds blasting from their local radio stations . So today I have given you some extra's and here are four superb old-timey country tracks from the easy to find 10cd sampler, simply called 'Country & Western'.
The Bar X Cowboys - When Mama Goes Out
Floyd Tillman - Drivin' Nails In My Coffin
T Texas Tyler - My Bucket's Got A Hole In It
Sons Of The Pioneers - Cigareetes & Whusky
