It 'beggars belief' here at Spunky Onions that Houston Turner is not better known but as an artist whose recorded output was very minimal I think I can understand why. These two tracks were released on a 45'' from Do-Ra-Me records of Nashville, Tennessee in March 1962 and it is often credited to Houston Turner & The Dixielanders. Houston was from Chattanooga, Tenn. You can find 'Uncle John's Bongos' on the Stomper Time Records compilation' The Last Great Saturday Night' and 'The Best Dressed Beggar In Town' track is best picked up on the Ace Records compilation 'El Primitivo:American Rock & Roll & Rockabilly'.
