My Brother The Man

Jerry 'Boogie' McCain was born 19/6/1930 in Etowah County, Alabama and has always been a top but underated 'harp' player throughout his long and varied musical career. His earliest material was recorded for the Excello label. He then recorded both the instrumental 'Steady' and 'She's Tough' (later covered by the Fabulous Thunderbirds) for the Rev label. Today's track comes from the 1965 release on Esco Records (Esco 100) and was issued as The Shindigs with Jerry McCain. The Shindigs were a bunch of young, white session musicians often rumoured to be Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs. You can also find this track on the 1999 CD from Varese Sarabande Records of Studio City, California titled 'Good Stuff !' (see cover below).
The Pussycat A-Go-Go was the name of a well known night club.
